Maricela Escamilla

Maricela is a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate. She holds a Master’s degree in Counseling from the University of Houston Clear Lake and a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Texas at San Antonio. Maricela has worked with adolescents, families, parents, and adults for nearly 20 years in the field of education.

Her work experience includes teacher, instructional coach, school counselor, and currently a school behavioral health specialist. She has trained and coached adults in the areas of Brain Behavior, Trauma, Emotional Management, Parenting Classes, and Social Emotional Learning. Maricela is interested in treating a wide array of issues, including suicidal ideation, self-harm, depression, anxiety, grief/loss, divorce, eating disorders, and trauma. Maricela has been utilizing skills from treatment modalities such as Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Person-Centered Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy; however, she believes that her client needs and skillset will dictate the therapeutic process.

She is a caring, non-judgmental listener that will help you find hope and understanding in your current situation. Maricela can also help you navigate through the school system and is passionate about advocating for mental health needs in schools. In her free time, she enjoys camping with her family, walking her dogs, crafting, and watching her kids play sports
